Mohabbat (Love), 2025
Acrylic & oil, laser engraving on torched wood
121.9 x 213.4 cm
This work is rooted in my childhood memories, when I would walk with my friends into the fields during the days of Eid, leading the goats along. After prayers, at dusk, the sky would often fill with the movements of birds, their shifting forms creating fleeting patterns. In this piece, their flight takes the shape of the word Mohabbat (love), reflecting the affection that bound us together. Within these patterns, I have inscribed the names of my friends Ahmad and Faiz embedding them within fragments of Urdu and Arabic script. Their presence becomes inseparable from those days, like voices still echoing within me. The land of my past the soil, the fields, and the memories that shaped me forms the ground of this work. To hold the weight of memory and loss, I used blood -like tones and layered textures that flow across the surface like a steady rhythm. This work becomes both a dedication to friendship and a reflection on love that endures across time and distance.
