“it is all there, no need to read it, just look at it”

Siegfried Contemporary is delighted to showcase the work of Italian born Paola Petrobelli, alongside British artist, and Turner prize winner, Martin Creed.

Since its initiation, Siegfried Contemporary has prioritised forming creative dialogues between artists, who demonstrate parallels in their work - in this instance, through shape, colour and the notion of repetition and rhythm. The abstract title, chosen by Petrobelli, conveys a sense of immediacy, “it is all there, no need to read it, just look at it”.

“Martin Creed is a social artist; the true magic of his work lies in the way it interacts with people and places.” (Jonathan Jones, Martin Creed stairway to heaven, in the Guardian, Aug 1, 2011, on work 1059)

Creed's emotive and communicative pieces subtly interlink with Petrobelli’s ceramic groupings, creating a dialogue between objects and paintings. The works, selected to be exhibited, communicate within my own collection through three key elements: colour, emotion and materiality.
